HOW TO PLAY?

Super KING, also widely recognized as Rifki, Barbu, Hearts, and Tafferan, is a four-person card game incorporating penalties and trumps. Typically, each gaming session consists of 20 games, with each player allotted 3 penalty and 2 trump games.

At the commencement of the game, cards are distributed among all players. The dealer, after assessing their own hand, selects the game type (penalty or trump) to be played and starts the game by leading with the first card. In trump games, the objective is to accumulate as many hands as possible, while caution must be exercised to avoid acquiring penalty cards in penalty games.

PENALTY GAMES

• No Tricks: The aim is to refrain from winning tricks in this game. The highest card of the suit played claims victory for that trick. There are no trumps in penalty games, and each trick incurs a penalty of -50 golds.
• No Hearts: Players aim to avoid winning hearts in this game. Failure to follow suit allows any other card to be played. Winners acquire any heart present. Each heart transgressed results in a deduction of -30 golds.
• No Queens: Participants strive not to secure queen cards throughout this game. Failing to follow suit prompts the player to play a queen card. Victors claim these queens as part of their scorecard. Each queen carries a penalty of -100 golds.
• No Boys: Kings or jacks are unwanted in this game. If unable to follow suit, players must present an ace or king card. Winners acquire jacks/kings based on what was played. Kings/jacks incur a deduction of -60 golds.
• No Last 2: The goal is to avoid winning the last two tricks in this game. Past hands do not affect this objective; only the last two matter. Each trick adds a penalty of -180 golds.
• No King: The infamous King of hearts (KING) represents the playing card to avoid in this game. Players must refrain from leading with King of hearts unless it is their sole option. Winning this card incurs a loss of -320 golds.

TRUMP GAMES

The declarer initiates each trick in Trump games. A trick is clinched by the highest trump card or, in its absence, the highest card of the suit led. Players adhere to suits when possible; should they lack suitable cards, trump cards should be played if available. Each trick in Trump games yields +50 golds.
